Hood Prop Rod Contacts Hood Release Cable when in Stowed Position (Inspect Position of Hood Release Cable and Adjust if Necessary)
MODELS AFFECTED:
2003 Saturn L-Series vehicles built up to and including VIN 3Y501434
CONDITION:
Hood prop rod contacts hood release cable when in the stowed position.
CAUSE:
This condition may be caused by incorrectly positioned hood release cable.
CORRECTION:
To correct this condition refer to procedure in this bulletin and reposition the hood release cable.
1. Visually inspect the hood release cable at the core support attaching clip.
^ If 2 mm (1/8 in.) or less of the yellow alignment reference tape is exposed on the drivers side of the core support attaching clip, no repairs are necessary.
^ If more than 2 mm (1/8 in.) of the yellow alignment reference tape is exposed it will be necessary to adjust the hood release cable to relocate the yellow alignment reference tape under the core support attaching clip. Proceed to step 2.
2. Loosen core support attaching clip and center yellow alignment reference tape under core support attaching clip and tighten core support attaching clip.
Torque:
Core Support Attaching Clip: 5 N.m (44 in-lbs)
3. Before closing hood, check for proper operation of hood release cable.
