Rear Door: Adjustments
Door Adjustment - Rear
1. Remove the door lock striker. Refer to Door Striker Replacement - Rear Door (Service and Repair).
2. For up, down, forward, or rearward adjustment, loosen the hinge to hinge pillar bolts.
3. For inboard or outboard adjustment, perform the following steps:
1. Remove the rear door outer panel. Refer to Outer Door Panel Replacement Rear - Bolt On ().
2. Remove the rear door sound insulator. Refer to Sound Insulator Replacement - Rear Door (Door Insulator).
3. Loosen the door to hinge nuts and adjust the door as necessary.
4. If proper door adjustment cannot be obtained, perform the following steps:
1. Remove the rear door. Refer to Door Replacement - Rear (Door Replacement - Rear).
2. Enlarge the outer 2 stud openings closest to the door panel with a drill bit to 13 mm (1/2 in).
3. Apply primer to the bare metal areas where holes were drilled.
4. Install the rear door. Refer to Door Replacement - Rear (Door Replacement - Rear).
5. Move the door within the door opening to achieve the best alignment and operation.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
6. Tighten all of the hinge fasteners that were loosened.
Tighten the hinge fasteners to 30 Nm (22 lb ft).
7. Install the rear door sound insulator. Refer to Sound Insulator Replacement - Rear Door (Door Insulator).
8. Install the rear door outer panel. Refer to Outer Door Panel Replacement Rear - Bolt On ().
9. Install the striker to the approximate proper position.
10. Adjust the door striker. Refer to Door Striker Adjustment - Rear Door (Adjustments).
11. Inspect the door weatherstrips for proper fit.
