Service Manual Update Regarding Headlamp Alignment

Purpose

The purpose of this bulletin is to inform the technician and customer of proper headlamp alignment. Review the projection headlamp low beam pattern with the customer. If necessary, re-align the headlamp(s). Note the stepped appearance with this design. If the customer's vehicle displays a headlamp projection as shown in the illustration, neither headlamp replacement nor re-alignment should be performed.

The eSI website will be updated immediately and future Service Stall System SI CD releases will include this and other Service Manual updates.

Procedure

Refer to the "Lighting Systems" section of the 2004 Saturn L-Series Service Manual - Volume 2 (Pages 8-528 through 8-531) and review the following graphics for proper headlamp alignment.

This illustration shows the distinct projected light pattern on the road from inside the vehicle.
