Transmission Position Sensor/Switch: Adjustments
Park/Neutral Position Switch Adjustment^ Tools Required
- J 36346 Fascia Retainer Remover
- J 45404 Transmission Indicator Alignment Tool
1. Apply the parking brake.
2. Place the transmission shift lever in the neutral position.
3. Using the J 36346 or equivalent, disconnect the shift cable from the park/neutral shift lever.
4. Loosen the park/neutral position switch bolt (79) and stud (76).
5. Install the J 45404 to the manual shaft in order to align the pointer to the neutral base line.
6. Rotate the park/neutral position switch (75) as necessary to align the neutral base line to the pointer.
7. Remove the J 45404 from the manual shaft.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
8. Tighten the park/neutral position switch bolt and stud.
^ Tighten the bolt and stud to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).
9. Install the transmission control lever (2) and nut (1).
^ Tighten the nut to 16 Nm (12 ft. lbs.).
10. Connect the shift cable to the transmission control lever.
11. Verify the park/neutral position switch adjustment by starting the vehicle in all ranges. If the transmission starts in any range other than park or neutral, readjust the park/neutral position switch.
