Blower Motor Resistor: Service and Repair
BLOWER MOTOR RESISTOR REPLACEMENTREMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the instrument panel (I/P) compartment.
3. Remove the right side heater outlet assembly retainer.
4. Remove the right side heater outlet assembly.
5. Disconnect the recirculation actuator electrical connector.
6. Disconnect the aspirator hose and position the hose aside. For vehicles equipped with automatic climate control only
7. Remove the blower motor resistor screws.
CAUTION: Blower resistor card has sharp edges and may be very hot if blower was used prior to servicing.
8. Use the electrical harness to pull the resistor card out of the module.
9. Disconnect the blower resistor card from the electrical connector.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Connect the blower motor resistor electrical connector to the resistor card.
2. Install the blower resistor card into the slot in the module with the circuit side facing towards the rear of the vehicle. The resistor will only fit one way.
3. Install the blower motor resistor screws.
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
Tighten the screws to 1.0 N.m (9 lb in).
4. Connect the recirculation actuator electrical connector.
5. Install the I/P compartment.
6. Install the right side heater outlet.
7. Install the right side heater outlet retainer.
8. Connect the negative battery cable.
