Removal Procedure
Caution: Refer to SIR Caution in Service Precautions.
1. Disable the SIR System.
2. Remove the inflator module.
3. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
4. Remove the steering wheel attachment nut and discard the nut.
5. Install the J 1859-A and the J 42578.
6. Remove the steering wheel from the steering column.
Installation Procedure
1. Install the steering wheel to the steering column.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
Important: A new steering wheel attachment nut must be used.
2. Install a NEW steering wheel attachment nut.
Tighten the steering wheel nut to 40 Nm (30 ft. lbs.).
3. If connect the electrical connectors.
4. Install the SIR inflator module.
5. Enable the SIR system.
