Removal / Installation

Support Replacement

Removal Procedure





1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
2. Remove the rear tire assemblies.
3. Remove the rear exhaust and muffler.





4. Remove the fuel tank heat shield from the rear suspension support.





5. Remove the upper and lower control arm to rear knuckle assembly attachment bolts. Discard the bolts and nuts.





6. Disconnect the stabilizer bar links from the rear axle control arms.





7. Using a suitable support stand, support the rear suspension support.
8. Remove the rear suspension support to body mounting bolts. Discard the bolts.
9. Remove the suspension support from the vehicle.
10. if replacing the support assembly, remove the upper control arm.
11. If replacing the support assembly, remove the lower control arm.

Installation Procedure





1. If replacing the support assembly, install the lower control arm.
2. If replacing the support assembly, install the upper control arm.
3. Position the rear suspension support to the vehicle, using a suitable support stand.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

4. Install new rear suspension support to body mounting bolts.
Tighten the bolts to 90 Nm (66 ft. lbs.) plus an additional 90 to 105 degrees.





5. Remove the support stand.
6. Install the knuckle assembly to the upper and lower rear suspension control arms using new nuts and bolts.
Tighten the bolts to 90 Nm (66 ft. lbs.) plus an additional 60 to 75 degrees.





7. Install the stabilizer links to the rear axle trailing arm.
Tighten the bolt to 55 Nm (41 ft. lbs.).





8. Install the fuel tank heat shield from the rear suspension support.





9. Install the rear exhaust and muffler.
10. Install the rear tire assemblies.
11. Lower the vehicle.
