Underhood Electrical Center or Junction Block Replacement

UNDERHOOD ELECTRICAL CENTER OR JUNCTION BLOCK REPLACEMENT

REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Slide the fan control module up and off the bracket. With the wiring connected, set the fan control module aside.

IMPORTANT: The fan control module wiring does not need to be disconnected from the module. Additional wiring has been included in the harness for diagnosis and service.

2. Remove the battery hold down/fan control module bracket bolt and bracket.
3. Remove the battery.
4. Uncover the battery feed on the fuse block cover.
5. Disconnect the battery feed to the fuse block.
6. Unsnap the engine cooling hose from the fuse block cover.




7. Push on the tabs at the end of the fuse block. Remove the cover (2) from the fuse block.
8. Push in the tabs (3) on the end of the fuse block case. Roll back the fuse block (1).




9. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
10. Remove the fuse block from the case.




11. Remove the routed harnesses.

IMPORTANT: Two tabs hold the hard shell grommets in place at the bottom of the grommet. Disengage these tabs and remove the grommet.

12. Remove the bolt on the bottom of the fuse block case. Remove the case from the battery tray.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Place the fuse block case on the battery tray.
2. Use the locator tabs to position the fuse block case.
3. Install the bolt in the bottom of the fuse block case.
4. Route the engine harness (A) into the fuse block case. Push the grommet until the tabs catch.
5. Rehinge the fuse block to the case.
6. Route the I/P (C) and the forward lamp (B) harnesses into the fuse block case. Ensure that the tabs catch.




7. Connect the electrical connectors (4, 5, 6, 7) to the fuse block.




8. Close the fuse block. Secure the latch (2).
9. Replace the fuse block cover. Secure the latch.
10. Snap the engine cooling hose into place on the cover.
11. Connect the battery feed to the fuse block.
12. Install the battery feed cover over the battery feed terminal.

IMPORTANT: Ensure that the battery tray is clean.

13. Install the battery. Refer to Battery Replacement in Starting and Charging.

IMPORTANT: Failure to use the battery foam shield will reduce the life of the battery.

14. Install the battery hold down/fan control module bracket bolt and bracket.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

Tighten the bracket bolt to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).

15. Slide the fan control module onto the battery hold down/fan control module bracket.
