ENGINE CONTROL MODULE (ECM) REPLACEMENT

REMOVAL PROCEDURE




1. Turn the ignition OFF for at least 10 seconds.
2. Disconnect the ECM J1 and J2 harness connectors.
3. Remove the ECM attachment bolts and remove the ECM.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.




1. Install the ECM and the ECM attachment bolts.

Tighten the engine control module attachment bolts to 8 N.m (71 lb in).

2. Connect the ECM J1 and J2 harness connectors:
- The J1 harness connector has more wires in its harness and is the connector closest to the front of the vehicle.
- The connectors will only fit on one way.
- Make sure the connectors are fully seated and locked into position.
3. If the ECM has been replaced, it must be programmed with the correct software and calibrations. Use the Service Stall System (SSS) to perform the reprogramming function. Programming and Relearning

IMPORTANT: Make sure to select the correct option content for the specific vehicle being programmed.

4. Perform the Security System Passlock Relearn procedure using the SSS. Programming and Relearning
5. Leave the ignition ON for 1 minute to enable the ECM to learn the throttle body.
6. Turn the ignition OFF for 10 seconds, and then turn the ignition back ON.

IMPORTANT: The ECM will automatically learn the crankshaft variation while driving. No manual procedure is required.

7. Clear the DTCs in all controllers.
