Instrument Panel Module Replacement
INFLATABLE RESTRAINT INSTRUMENT PANEL MODULE REPLACEMENTREMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 5.
CAUTION:
- Refer to SRS Sodium Hydroxide Powder Caution in Service Precautions.
- Refer to SIR Inflator Module Handling and Storage Caution in Service Precautions.
IMPORTANT: In the event a deployment has occurred, refer to Repairs and Inspections Required After a Collision.
CAUTION: Refer to SIR Caution in Service Precautions.
2. Remove the I/P compartment.
3. Disconnect the SIR system from the vehicle wire harness at the yellow 2-way connector.
4. Remove the fasteners securing the SIR to the I/P support beam.
5. Push the SIR rearward and rotate the round end downward.
6. Remove the SIR from the vehicle through the opening in the I/P compartment.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Insert the SIR through the I/P opening with the vinyl edge up and the harness on the right side of the vehicle.
2. Insert the SIR guide pins in the I/P brace slots and rotate the round edge upward to align the bolt holes.
3. Install the bolts securing the SIR to the I/P support beam.
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
Tighten the bolts to 10 N.m (89 lb in).
4. Connect the yellow 2-way connector to the vehicle wiring harness.
5. Install the I/P compartment.
6. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 5.
7. Turn the ignition on and verify that the SIR telltale operates properly.
