Intermediate Steering Shaft ReplacementRemoval Procedure
1. Place the vehicle with the wheels in the straight forward position.
2. Lock the steering column.
3. Remove the intermediate shaft to steering gear pinch bolt.
4. Remove the intermediate shaft to steering column pinch bolt.
5. Disconnect the intermediate shaft from the steering gear.
6. Disconnect the intermediate shaft from the steering column.
7. Remove the intermediate shaft from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
1. Connect the intermediate shaft to the steering column.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
2. Install the intermediate shaft to steering column pinch bolt.
Tighten the bolt to 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.).
3. Connect the intermediate shaft to the steering gear.
4. Install the intermediate shaft to steering gear pinch bolt.
Tighten the bolt to 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.).
