MODE CAM REPLACEMENT
REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Pull out on the accessory trim plate in order to release the retaining fasteners.
2. Disconnect the accessory trim plate electrical connector(s).
3. Remove the screws from the radio and pull the radio out.
4. Disconnect the radio electrical connectors and remove the radio.
5. Disconnect the mode and temperature cables from the HVAC control assembly.
IMPORTANT: Do not bend the mode and temperature cables.
6. Disconnect the HVAC control assembly electrical connectors.
7. Remove the HVAC control assembly screws and remove the HVAC control assembly.
8. Remove the mode cable screw and remove the mode cable.
IMPORTANT: Do not bend the mode cable.
9. Turn the mode cam counterclockwise while pulling out to remove.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Align the mode cam with the mode door levers and the HVAC module.
2. Insert the mode cam into the HVAC module while turning the mode cam clockwise. Make certain that the mode door levers align with the proper grooves in the mode cam.
3. Install the mode cable. Make certain that the cable is properly seated in the notch in the HVAC module.
IMPORTANT: Do not bend the mode cable.
4. Install the mode cable screw.
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
Tighten the screw to 2 N.m (18 lb in).
5. Install the HVAC control assembly.
6. Install the HVAC control assembly screws.
Tighten the screws to 2.5 N.m (22 lb in).
7. Connect the mode and temperature cables to the HVAC control assembly.
IMPORTANT: Do not bend the mode and temperature cables.
8. Connect the HVAC control assembly electrical connectors.
9. Place the radio in the vehicle and connect the radio electrical connectors.
10. Push the radio into position.
11. Install the radio screws.
Tighten the screws to 2.5 N.m (22 lb in).
12. Connect the accessory trim plate electrical connector(s).
13. Align the retaining fasteners with the I/P.
14. Push on the outer edge of the accessory trim plate in order to secure the retaining fasteners.
