Interior - Back Window Trim Bowing/Poor Fit

Bulletin No.: 07-08-53-003

Date: October 23, 2007

TECHNICAL

Subject:
Poor Fit/Bowing of Trim on Either Side of Rear Glass (Trim Lower Garnish Molding and/or Reposition Wire Harness)

Models:
2007 Saturn Aura

Condition

Some customers may comment that the trim on the side of the rear window (back glass) is bowing out or has a poor fit.

Cause

This may be caused by the rear window shelf being 3.8 mm (0.14 in) higher at each end. This causes the body lock pillar lower trim panel to rest on the rear window shelf. Another cause may be that the wiring harness between the sheet metal and the standoff tab on the backside of the upper garnish trim is mispositioned.

Correction

Trim off the tab on the body lock pillar lower trim panel and inspect the wire harness in the upper C pillar area.

Remove the body lock pillar lower trim panel. Refer to Body Lock Pillar Lower Trim Panel Replacement in SI.

Inspect the wire harness for proper routing in C pillar area. The harness should be below the hole as shown above. If the garnish molding has taken a bow shape and can't be removed, it will have to be replaced.

Install the body lock pillar lower trim panel. Refer to Body Lock Pillar Lower Trim Panel Replacement in SI.
