Diagnostic Fault Information
Circuit/System Description
The front power windows are controlled by the driver window switch, front passenger window switch and the rear fuse block. The driver window switch contains the master power window switch that controls all power window operations. When a power window switch is activated to a desired position, power window switch will send a signal to its respective door window motor to move the window to the desired position. The window motors may also receive a signal from the rear fuse block to globally express down.
Conditions for Running the DTC
* Battery voltage must be between 9-16 volts.
* The ignition is ON.
Conditions for Setting the DTC
The rear fuse block detects a short to ground in the driver window ignition circuit, the passenger window ignition circuit or the window lockout control circuit.
Action Taken When the DTC Sets
All power windows will be inoperative.
Conditions for Clearing the DTC
* The DTC will be current for as long as the fault is present.
* When the fault is no longer present, the DTC will be a history DTC.
* A history DTC will clear after 50 ignition cycles.

Circuit/System Verification
Ignition ON, command the each window UP and DOWN using the window switches on the driver master control and by using their respective door window switches. Each window should perform the UP and DOWN functions from each switch.
Circuit/System Testing
1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the driver window switch.
2. Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp illuminates between the ignition circuit terminal 26 and ground.
• If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the ignition circuit for a short to ground.
3. Connect the harness connector at the driver window switch and disconnect the harness connector at the passenger window switch.
4. Verify that a test lamp illuminates between the ignition circuit terminal 1 and ground.
• If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the ignition circuit for a short to ground.
5. Verify that a test lamp illuminates between the signal circuit terminal 6 and ground while commanding the window UP by using the RF window switch on the driver master control.
• If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the signal circuit for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, test or replace the driver window switch.
6. Verify that a test lamp illuminates between the signal circuit terminal 3 and ground while commanding the window DOWN by using the RF window switch on the driver master control.
• If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the signal circuit for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, test or replace the driver window switch.
7. Connect the harness connector at the passenger window switch and disconnect the harness connector at the passenger window motor.
8. Connect a test lamp between the control circuit terminal 2 and control circuit terminal 3.
9. Command the window motor UP and DOWN by using the passenger window switch. The test lamp should illuminate while commanding the UP and DOWN state.
• If the test lamp does not illuminate during either of the commands, check both control circuits for a short to ground. If the circuits test normal, test or replace the passenger window switch.
10. Connect the harness connector at the passenger window motor and disconnect the harness connector at the driver window motor.
11. Connect a test lamp between the control circuit terminal 2 and control circuit terminal 3.
12. Command the window motor UP and DOWN by using the driver window switch. The test lamp should illuminate while commanding the UP and DOWN state.
• If the test lamp does not illuminate during either of the commands, check both control circuits for a short to ground. If the circuits test normal, test or replace the driver window switch.
13. Disconnect the harness connector at the appropriate rear window switch.
14. Ignition ON, with the lockout switch closed, verify that a test lamp illuminates between the control circuit terminal 1 and ground.
• If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the control circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, test or replace the driver window switch.
15. Connect a test lamp between control circuit terminal 6 and control circuit terminal 3.
16. Ignition ON, command the rear passenger door window UP and DOWN using the window switch on the driver master control. The test lamp should illuminate when commanding the UP and DOWN states.
• If the test lamp does not illuminate during either of the commands, test both control circuits for a short to ground. If the circuits test normal, test or replace the driver window switch.
17. Ignition OFF, connect the harness connector at the rear window switch and disconnect the harness connector at the rear window motor.
18. Connect a test lamp between control circuit terminal 2 and the control circuit terminal 3.
19. Ignition ON, command the rear window UP and DOWN by using the rear window switch. The test lamp should illuminate when commanding the UP and DOWN states.
• If the test lamp remains OFF during either of the commands, test either control circuit for a short to ground or open/high resistance. If the circuits test normal, replace the rear window switch.
• If the test lamp is always ON, test either control circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuits test normal, replace the rear window switch.
20. If all circuits test normal, replace the rear fuse block.
Component Testing
Driver Window Switch
1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the driver window switch.
2. Test for less than 2 ohms between the lockout control terminal F and the ignition terminal 26 with the lockout switch in the ENABLE position.
• If greater than the specified value, replace the driver window switch
3. Test for infinite resistance between the lockout control terminal F and the B+ circuit terminal E with the lockout switch in the DISABLE position.
• If less than the specified value, replace the driver window switch.
4. With the switch in the INACTIVE position, test for infinite resistance between the appropriate control terminals and the ignition terminal 26 listed below:
* LR window switch control terminals 24 and 25
* RR window switch control terminals 8 and 9
* RF window switch control terminals 11 and 12
* Driver window switch control terminals 27 and 28
• If less than the specified value, replace the driver window switch.
5. With the switch in the UP position, test for less than 2 ohms between the appropriate control terminals and the ignition terminal 26 listed below:
* LR window switch control terminal 25
* RR window switch control terminal 9
* RF window switch control terminal 12
* Driver window switch control terminal 28
• If greater than the specified range, replace the driver window switch.
6. With the switch in the DOWN position, test for less than 2 ohms between the appropriate control terminals and the ignition terminal 26 listed below:
* LR window switch control terminal 24
* RR window switch control terminal 8
* RF window switch control terminal 11
* Driver window switch control terminal 27
• If greater than the specified range, replace the driver window switch
Passenger Window Switch
1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the passenger window switch.
2. Test for infinite resistance between the control terminals 2 and 5 and the ignition terminal 1 with the switch in the INACTIVE position.
• If less than the specified value, replace the passenger window switch.
3. Test for less than 2 ohms between the control terminal 5 and the ignition terminal 1 with the switch in the UP position.
• If greater than the specified range, replace the passenger window switch.
4. Test for less than 2 ohms between the control terminal 2 and the ignition terminal 1 with the switch in the DOWN position.
• If greater than the specified range, replace the passenger window switch.
Rear Window Switch
1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the appropriate rear window switch.
2. Test for infinite resistance between the control terminals 2 and 6 and the control terminal 1 with the switch in the INACTIVE position.
• If less than the specified value, replace the rear window switch.
3. Test for less than 2 ohms between the control terminal 6 and the control terminal 1 with the switch in the UP position.
• If greater than the specified range, replace the rear window switch.
4. Test for less than 2 ohms between the control terminal 2 and the control terminal 1 with the switch in the DOWN position.
• If greater than the specified range, replace the rear window switch.
Repair Instructions
Perform the Diagnostic Repair Verification (Verification Tests) after completing the diagnostic procedure.
