- Windows Comfort Closing Circuit Malfunction

Diagnostic Fault Information

Circuit/System Description

The front power windows are controlled by the driver window switch, front passenger window switch and the rear fuse block. The driver window switch contains the master power window switch that controls all power window operations. When a power window switch is activated to a desired position, power window switch will send a signal to it's respective door window motor to move the window to the desired position. The window motors may also receive a signal from the rear fuse block to globally express down.

Conditions for Running the DTC

* Battery voltage must be between 9-16 volts.
* The ignition is ON

Conditions for Setting the DTC

The rear fuse block detects a short to ground or an open/high resistance in the global down command circuit.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

The global down function will be inoperative.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

* The DTC will be current for as long as the fault is present.
* When the fault is no longer present, the DTC will be a history DTC.

Circuit/System Verification

Ignition ON, globally command all windows UP and DOWN with a scan tool, all windows should globally express UP and express DOWN.

Circuit/System Testing

1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the appropriate window motor.
2. Connect a test lamp between the control circuit terminal 6 and B+.
3. Ignition ON, globally command all windows UP and DOWN with a scan tool. The test lamp should illuminate when commanding the UP and DOWN states.

If the test lamp is always OFF during either of the commands, test the control circuit for a short to voltage or open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the rear fuse block.
If the test lamp is always ON, test the control circuit for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the rear fuse block.

4. If all circuits test normal, replace the window motor.
