Front Seat Back Replacement

Removal Procedure

Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution (Battery Disconnect Caution) .

Important: Wait 1 minute for the airbag to deactivate.


1. Disconnect the battery.




2. Remove the front seat belt securing panel (1).
3. Remove the seat belt from the front seat.
Remove the bolt (2).
4. Position the seat to the most forward position.




5. Remove the driver seat, rear.
Remove the 2 bolts (1).

Important: Disconnect the wiring harness plug.


6. Remove the front seat.
Remove from the front guide.




7. Partly remove the front seat backrest paneling.

* Remove the paneling all round (I).
* Release the 2 clamps (II).





8. Remove the side airbag.
Remove the 3 bolts (1).
9. Remove the side airbag.
Release and disconnect the wiring harness plug.




10. Uncover the airbag cable harness.
11. Remove the height adjuster panel.
Release with a plastic wedge.
12. Remove the height adjuster.
Remove the 2 bolts (1) and remove the lever.
13. Remove the rear seat backrest adjuster wheel.
Release with a plastic wedge.




14. Remove the outer paneling.

* Remove the 2 bolts (1, 3).
* Remove the front of the paneling from the guide (2).





15. Remove the interior paneling.

* Remove the bolt (1).
* Remove the paneling.

16. Remove the seat central wiring harness plug.
Disconnect the connection.




17. Uncover the wiring harness for seat heating, if fitted.
Disconnect and uncover the wiring harness plug (arrows).
Remove the 3 cable ties (1).




18. Remove the front seat backrest.
Remove the 4 bolts (1, 2).
Remove the front seat backrest.



Installation Procedure


Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice (Fastener Notice) .

1. Install the front seat backrest.

Tighten the 4 bolts to 35 N.m (26 lb ft).

2. Position the wiring harness for the seat heating, if fitted.
Attach with 4 cable ties.
3. Position the airbag cable harness.
4. Install the central wiring harness plug for the seat.
Connect the plug.
5. Install the interior paneling.
Insert paneling.

Tighten the bolt to 2.5 N.m (22 lb in).

6. Install the exterior paneling.
Insert paneling.

Tighten the 2 bolts to 35 N.m (26 lb ft).

7. Install the rear seat backrest adjuster wheel.
Install the adjusting wheel.
8. Install the height adjuster.

Tighten the 2 bolts to 35 N.m (26 lb ft).

9. Install the height adjuster panel.
Clip in panel.

Important: Ensure correct wiring harness routing.


10. Insert the side airbag.
Connect and latch the wiring harness plug.
11. Fasten the side airbag.

Tighten the 3 bolts to 5 N.m (44 lb in).

12. Fasten the front seat backrest paneling.

* Re-install the 2 clamps.
* Fasten paneling all round.


Important: Connect the wiring harness plug.


13. Install the front seat.
Insert into the front guide.
14. Install the front seat, rear.

Tighten the 2 bolts to 35 N.m (26 lb ft).

15. Reposition the seat to the original position.
16. Install the seat belt at the front seat.

Tighten the bolt to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).

17. Install the seat belt fastening panel.
18. Connect the battery.
19. For programming procedures, refer to Control Module References (Programming and Relearning) .
