Auxiliary Catalytic Converter Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Open the hood.
2. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (Service Intervals) .




3. Disconnect the wiring harness for the oxygen sensor (2).
Disconnect the wiring harness plug (1).
4. See the assembly instruction on the shipping or moving fastening. Refer to Exhaust System Flex Pipe Shipping Protector Removal and Installation (Service and Repair) .




5. Remove the front exhaust pipe/auxiliary catalytic converter from the catalytic converter.
Remove the 3 nuts (1).




6. Remove the front exhaust pipe/auxiliary catalytic converter (1).

* Support the center muffler to the underbody with wire.
* Release the clamp fitting (2) and remove the wiring plug connection.





7. Remove the oxygen sensor (1).



Installation Procedure


Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice (Fastener Notice) .

1. Install the oxygen sensor.
Coat the threads of the oxygen sensor with anti-sieze mounting paste.

Tighten the oxygen sensor to 30 N.m (22 lb ft).

2. Install the front exhaust pipe/auxiliary catalytic converter.

* Install the front exhaust pipe/auxiliary catalytic converter to the catalytic converter with the new gasket.

Tighten the 3 new nuts to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).

* Install the front exhaust pipe/auxiliary catalytic converter to the center muffler.

Tighten the clamp fitting to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).


3. Connect the wiring harness for the oxygen sensor .
Connect the wiring harness plug.
4. Lower the vehicle.
5. Close the hood.
