Range Selector Lever Cable Inspection

Special Tools

KM-962-A /KM-962-10 Tester


Removal Procedure





1. Remove the battery.

* Disconnect the negative cable (2) from the battery.
Remove the nut.
* Disconnect the positive cable (3) from the battery.
Remove the nut.
* Remove the bracket (1).
Remove the bolt (4).
* Remove the battery.





2. Remove the battery support.

* Release the cable tie.
* Remove the 3 bolts (1).

3. Connect KM-962-A (3) to the wiring harness plug of the selector lever position switch

* Disconnect the wiring harness plug of the selector lever position switch (1).
* Open the locking shackle.

4. Connect KM-962-A with KM-962-A KM-962-10 (2) to the battery.
5. Inspect the setting of the selector lever position switch.


Important: The light diodes corresponding to the markings on the insert module (1) must flash for each individual gear.


* Shift through all the gears one after the other.
* If the setting is incorrect:

- Adjust the selector cable. Refer to Range Selector Lever Cable Adjustment (Adjustments) .
- Adjust the selector lever position switch. Refer to Transmission Range Switch Adjustment (Adjustments) .
- Inspect the electrical function of the selector lever position switch.

Installation Procedure

1. Connect the selector lever position switch wiring harness plug.

* Disconnect KM-962-A from the selector lever position switch wiring harness plug.
* Disconnect KM-962-A from KM-962-10 .
* Disconnect KM-962-A from the battery.
* Lock the wiring harness plug.






Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice (Fastener Notice) .

2. Install the battery support.
Fasten the cable tie.

Tighten 3 bolts 10 N.m (89 lb in).





3. Install the battery.

* Install the bracket (1).
* Tighten the bolt (4).

Tighten bolt 15 N.m (11 lb ft).

* Connect the positive cable (3) to the battery.
* Connect the negative cable (2) to the battery.
