Ignition Switch: Service and Repair



Ignition and Start Switch Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the instrument cluster. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement (Instrument Cluster Replacement).
2. Remove the ignition switch lock cylinder. Refer to Ignition Switch Lock Cylinder Replacement (Removal and Replacement).




3. Remove the ignition and start switch bolts (1).
4. Separate the ignition and start switch (2) from the instrument panel.
5. Disconnect any electrical connectors.
6. Disconnect the park lock cable from the ignition and start switch. Refer to Park Lock Cable Replacement (4T45-E - Automatic Transaxle).
7. Remove the theft deterrent control module. Refer to Theft Deterrent Module Replacement (Service and Repair).




8. Remove the ignition and start switch bracket bolts.
9. Remove the ignition and start switch bracket.



Installation Procedure





1. Install the ignition and start switch bracket.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice (Fastener Notice).

2. Install the ignition and start switch bracket bolts.

Tighten the bolts to 5 N.m (44 lb in).

3. Install the theft deterrent control module. Refer to Theft Deterrent Module Replacement (Service and Repair).




4. Connect the ignition and start switch (2) to the I/P.
5. Install the ignition and start switch bolts (1).

Tighten the bolts to 2.5 N.m (22 lb in).

6. Connect the park lock cable to the ignition and start switch. Refer to Park Lock Cable Replacement (4T45-E - Automatic Transaxle).
7. Connect any electrical connectors.
8. Install the instrument cluster. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement (Instrument Cluster Replacement).
9. Install the ignition switch lock cylinder. Refer to Ignition Switch Lock Cylinder Replacement (Removal and Replacement).
