Passenger Seat Frame Replacement

Removal Procedure

Caution: Refer to SIR Caution (SIR Caution).

Caution: Replace the passenger presence system as a complete assembly to prevent possible injury to the occupant. All the components in the service kit are assembled and calibrated as a unit. Using only some of the components in the service kit will cause the passenger presence system to operate improperly.

1. If replacing the front passenger seat cushion, you must also replace the inflatable restraint passenger presence system. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Passenger Presence System Replacement - Front (Service and Repair).
2. Remove the front seat from the vehicle. Refer to Front Seat Replacement - Bucket (Front Seat Replacement - Bucket).
3. Remove the seat cushion cover and pad. Refer to Front Seat Cushion Cover and Pad Replacement (Front Seat Cushion Cover and Pad Replacement).




4. Remove the seat back cover and pad. Refer to Front Seat Back Cushion Cover and Cushion Pad Replacement (Front Seat Back Cushion Cover and Cushion Pad Replacement).




5. Remove the inflatable restraint side module. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Side Impact Module Replacement - Front (Service and Repair).




6. Remove the lumbar/back suspension.
7. Remove the cushion suspension.
8. Remove the wire harness, if equipped.



Installation Procedure

1. Install the wire harness, if equipped.
2. Install the cushion suspension.




3. Install the lumbar/back suspension.




4. Remove the inflatable restraint side module. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Side Impact Module Replacement - Front (Service and Repair).




5. Install the seat back cover and pad. Refer to Front Seat Back Cushion Cover and Cushion Pad Replacement (Front Seat Back Cushion Cover and Cushion Pad Replacement).
6. Install the seat cushion cover and pad. Refer to Front Seat Cushion Cover and Pad Replacement (Front Seat Cushion Cover and Pad Replacement).
7. Install the front seat to the vehicle. Refer to Front Seat Replacement - Bucket (Front Seat Replacement - Bucket).

Caution: To avoid personal injuries, re-zero the passenger presence system whenever you remove or replace the seat cushion or trim. Failure to do so may cause the system to malfunction.

8. Re-zero the inflatable restraint passenger presence system whenever the seat cushion or any component of the passenger presence system is removed. Refer to Passenger Presence System Programming and Setup (Programming and Relearning).
