Condition
Some customers may comment on a intermittent Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL)/Service Engine Soon (SES) light illuminated with no engine performance concerns. Upon inspection, one or more of the following Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) will be stored in the ECM:
- DTC P0335: Crankshaft Position (CKP) Sensor Circuit
- DTC P2610: Control Module Ignition OFF Timer Performance
Correction
If routine diagnosis using SI does not reveal any obvious cause, DO NOT replace the crankshaft sensor for DTC P0335 or replace the ECM for DTC P2610. Reprogram the ECM using the latest calibration if the above concern is encountered. A revised engine calibration has been developed to address these issues. Reprogram the ECM with an updated software calibration. This new service calibration is available on TIS2WEB using the Service Programming System (SPS). As always, make sure your Tech 2(R) is updated with the latest software version.
Warranty Information
For vehicles reprogrammed under the 8 year / 80,000 mile (130,000 km) emission controller warranty, use the table above.
