Headlining Trim Panel Replacement (Sedan)
Removal Procedure
Warning: Refer to Battery Disconnect Warning (Service Precautions).
1. Disconnect the battery.
2. Remove the rear compartment cover.
3. Remove the windshield garnish molding, left side.
1. Remove the access panel (1).
2. Release the clip.
3. Remove the windshield garnish molding.
4. Remove the windshield garnish molding, right side.
1. Remove the panel (1).
2. Release the clip.
3. Remove the windshield garnish molding.
5. Remove the front seat belt trim panel (1).
Release and remove the trim panel upward (arrow).
6. Remove the seat belt from the front seat.
Remove the bolt (2).
7. Remove the upper center pillar trim, left side.
1. Remove the access panel (1).
2. Loosen the upper center pillar in lower area (2) and remove the upper center pillar panel.
3. Release the 6 clips.
4. Remove the upper center pillar.
8. Remove the top center pillar, right side.
1. Remove the panel (1).
2. Loosen the upper center pillar in the lower area (2) and remove the upper center pillar.
3. Release the 6 clips.
4. Remove the center pillar.
9. Remove the quarter upper trim, left and right side. Refer to Quarter Upper Trim Panel Replacement (Coupe) (Service and Repair)Quarter Upper Trim Panel Replacement (Sedan) (Service and Repair).
10. Remove the roof rail front stowage compartment from the headlining.
1. Open the panel (arrow).
2. Remove the 2 bolts.
11. Remove the sunshade, left side.
1. Remove the 2 bolts.
2. Disconnect the wiring harness plug.
3. Release the sunshade from the support and remove.
12. Remove the sunshade, right side.
1. Remove the 2 bolts.
2. Disconnect the wiring harness plug.
3. Release the sunshade from the support and remove.
Note: The spring of the main bracket is not secured and may fall down.
13. Remove the sunshade support, right side.
Pull out the main bracket wedge and remove the main bracket.
Note: The spring of the main bracket is not secured and may fall down.
14. Remove the sunshade support, left side.
Pull out the main bracket wedge and remove the main bracket.
15. Remove the molded headlining assist handle, right side.
1. Open the panel (arrow).
2. Remove the 2 bolts.
16. Remove the molded headlining assist handle, left side.
1. Open the panel (arrow).
2. Remove the 2 bolts.
17. Remove the rear headlining handle, right side.
1. Open the panel (arrow).
2. Remove the 2 bolts.
18. Remove the rear interior lamp.
1. Remove the interior light with a plastic wedge.
2. Disconnect the wiring harness plug.
19. Remove the sunroof operating unit and interior light.
1. Disconnect 2 wiring harness plugs.
2. Remove the 2 bolts.
20. Loosen and remove the surrounding headlining.
Disconnect 2 wiring harness plugs.
Installation Procedure
1. Insert the headlining.
Connect the 2 wiring harness plug.
2. Fasten the headlining all the way around.
Place the headlining in the door weatherstrip.
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).
3. Fasten the sunroof operating unit and the interior light.
1. Connect the 2 wiring harness plugs.
2. Tighten the 2 bolts to 2.8 Nm (23 lb in).
4. Install the assist handle, left side.
1. Tighten the 2 bolts to 2.8 Nm (23 lb in).
2. Close the panel.
5. Install the rear assist handle, right side.
1. Tighten the 2 bolts to 2.8 Nm (23 lb in).
2. Close the panel.
6. Install the front assist handle, right side.
1. Tighten the 2 bolts to 2.8 Nm (23 lb in).
2. Close the panel.
7. Install the roof rail stowage compartment to the headlining.
1. Tighten the 2 bolts to 2.8 Nm (23 lb in).
2. Close the panel.
8. Install the sunshade support, right side.
Install the wedge with groove downward.
9. Install the sunshade, left side.
Install the wedge with the groove downward.
10. Install the sunshade, left side.
1. Connect the wiring harness plug.
2. Install the sunshade into the main bracket.
3. Tighten the 2 bolts to 1.5 Nm (13 lb in).
11. Install the sunshade support, right side.
1. Connect the wiring harness plug.
2. Install the sunshade into the main bracket.
3. Tighten the 2 bolts to 1.5 Nm (13 lb in).
12. Install the upper center pillar, left and right side. Refer to Center Pillar Upper Garnish Molding Replacement (Coupe) (Service and Repair)Center Pillar Upper Garnish Molding Replacement (Sedan) (Service and Repair).
13. Install the upper quarter trim, left side.
1. Place the upper quarter trim, clip in the upper quarter trim paneling in the lower center pillar trim.
2. Install the 6 clips.
3. Install the panel.
14. Install the seat belt on front seat, left side, and tighten the bolt to 20 Nm (15 lb ft).
Use the screw locking compound.
15. Install the front seat belt fastening, left side.
Install the trim panel.
16. Install the rear quarter trim panel, right side.
1. Place the rear quarter trim panel, clip in the upper rear quarter trim panel in the lower rear quarter trim panel.
2. Install the 6 clips.
3. Install the panel.
17. Install the seat belt on the front seat, right side, and tighten the bolt to 20 Nm (15 lb ft).
Use the screw locking compound.
18. Install the front seat belt fastening, right side.
Install the trim panel.
19. Install the windshield garnish molding, right side.
1. Place inner windshield garnish molding.
2. Install the panel.
3. Install the clip.
20. Install the windshield garnish molding, left side.
1. Install the windshield garnish molding.
2. Install the trim panel.
3. Install the clip.
21. Install the rear compartment cover.
22. Reposition the front seat to the original position.
23. Connect the battery.
