Front Brake Caliper Mounting Plate Replacement

J 28733-B /KM-6610 and KM-956-1 Front/Rear Spindle Remover

Removal Procedure




Warning: Refer to Brake Dust Warning (Brake Dust Warning).

Warning: Refer to Brake Fluid Irritant Warning (Brake Fluid Irritant Warning).

1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (Service and Repair).
2. Remove the front wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Service and Repair).
3. Remove the brake disc. Refer to Front Disc Brake Pads Replacement (Front Disc Brake Pads Replacement).
4. Remove the nut from the axle shaft.
Counterhold against the wheel hub with the holding wrench J 28733-B /KM-6610 and KM-956-1.




5. Disconnect the wiring harness plug (1) for the wheel sensor.

Note: Note the installation position of wheel bearing unit and cover plate.

6. Remove the wheel bearing unit.

* Remove the 3 bolts (2).
* Remove the wheel bearing unit (4) with the cover plate (3) from the steering knuckle and the axle shaft.

7. Remove the cover plate from the wheel bearing unit.

Installation Procedure

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

Note:
* Note the installation position.
* Clean the thread and insert the bolts with locking compound.

1. Install the wheel bearing unit.

* Set the cover plate on the wheel bearing unit.
* Push the wheel bearing unit with the cover plate on to the axle shaft and place on the steering knuckle.
* Install 3 new wheel bearing unit bolts.

Tighten the 3 new wheel bearing unit bolts to 90 Nm (66 lb ft), plus 30 degrees, plus 15 degrees.

2. Connect the wheel sensor wiring harness plug.
3. Install the axle shaft to the wheel hub with the new nut.

Tighten the axle shaft wheel hub nut to 150 Nm (110 lb ft), undo 45 degrees, then tighten to 250 Nm (184 lb ft).
Counterhold with J 28733-B /KM-6610 and KM-956-1.
4. Install the brake disc. Refer to Front Brake Rotor Replacement (Service and Repair).
5. Lower the vehicle.
6. Install the front wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Service and Repair).
