Transmission Range Switch Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the left transmission mount. Refer to Transmission Mount Replacement - Left Side (Service and Repair).




2. Detach the selector cable (2) from the selector lever.
3. Remove the wiring harness plug (1) from the selector lever position switch.
Release the wiring harness plug (arrow) and disconnect.




4. Detach the selector lever (2) from the selector lever shaft.
Remove the nut (1).




5. Remove the 2 bolts (1).




6. Remove the nut (1).
Open the retaining plate (2).
7. Release the transmission range switch from the selector lever shaft and transmission.

Installation Procedure




1. Attach the transmission range switch to the selector lever shaft and transmission.

* Attach the new retaining plate (2).

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

* Secure nut with the retaining plate.

Tighten the nut (1) to 8 Nm (71 lb in).





Note: Do not tighten bolts yet.

2. Install the 2 bolts (1).




3. Attach the selector lever (2) to the selector lever shaft.

Tighten the nut (1) to 16 Nm (12 lb ft).

4. Adjust the selector lever position switch. Refer to Transmission Range Switch Adjustment (Adjustments).
5. Tighten the 2 bolts and the transmission range switch on the transmission.

Tighten the 2 bolts to 25 Nm (18 lb ft).




6. Attach the selector cable (2) to the selector lever.
7. Attach the wiring harness plug (1) to the selector lever position switch.
Attach the wiring harness plug and lock (arrow),
8. Install the left engine mount. Refer to Transmission Mount Replacement - Left Side (Service and Repair).
9. For programming procedures, refer to Control Module References (Programming and Relearning).
