Removal Procedure
1. Remove the front wheel.
2. If fitted, remove the engine compartment cover.
3. Remove the tie rod end. Refer to Steering Linkage Outer Tie Rod Replacement (Steering Linkage Outer Tie Rod Replacement).
4. Remove the retaining clamp/retaining straps (1, 2).
5. Remove the boot (3) from the tie rod.
Installation Procedure
Note: Ensure that the boot sits in the grooves (1, 2) of the tie rod and the steering gear.
1. Pull the boot over the tie rod and slide onto the steering gear.
Lubricate the groove (1) with grease from the bellows part kit.
2. Install the boot to the steering gear with new retaining clamp and KM-J-22610 (3).
Note: Ensure that the boot sits in the grooves of the tie rod.
3. Install the boot with the new retaining strap (4) to the tie rod.
4. Install the tie rod end. Refer to Steering Linkage Outer Tie Rod Replacement (Steering Linkage Outer Tie Rod Replacement).
5. If fitted: Install the lower engine compartment cover.
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).
6. Install the front wheel.
Tighten to 110 Nm (81 lb ft).
7. Inspect the toe-in, adjust if necessary. Refer to Wheel Alignment - Steering Wheel Angle and/or Front Toe Adjustment (Service and Repair).
