Torque Converter Housing Disassemble

Special Tools
* J 26941 - Bushing and Bearing Remover - 3-4 in
* SA9133T - Axle Seal Puller
* SA9133T-1 - Axle Seal Puller Adapter

For equivalent regional tools, refer to Special Tools (Tools and Equipment).




1. Remove the 1 lube fluid pipe retainer bolt (804) and the lube fluid pipe retainer (803) from the torque converter housing (10).

Note: Be careful not to damage the lube fluid pipe.

2. Remove the lube fluid pipe (805).




3. Remove the 3 fluid baffle bolts (810) and the transmission fluid baffle (811).




4. Remove the 3 chip collector magnets (812) from the fluid baffle (811).




5. Using a hammer and screwdriver, remove the front differential carrier seal assembly (800).




6. Using a brass drift and hammer, drive out the front differential bearing race (647) and the front differential carrier bearing shim-selective.




7. Remove the 1 front differential transfer drive gear assembly bearing retainer bolt (807) and the front differential transfer drive gear assembly bearing retainer (806).




8. Using SA9133T - seal puller (1) SA9133T-1 - seal puller adapter (2) and J 26941 - bushing and bearing remover - 3-4 in (3), remove the front differential transfer drive gear assembly bearing (808).
9. Remove the front differential transfer drive gear front thrust bearing assembly (262).
