Rear Subframe: Service and Repair


Rear Suspension Support Crossmember Replacement


Removal Procedure

1.Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .

2.Remove the rear differential. Refer to the appropriate procedure:

- Differential Replacement for the 5L40-E/5L50-E automatic transmission

- Driveline Support Replacement for the Aisin AR5 manual transmission

3.Remove the rear lower control arms. Refer to Lower Control Arm Replacement .





4.Remove the rear suspension lower control arm reinforcement bolts (1).

5.Remove the rear suspension lower control arm reinforcement (2).





6.Remove the rear crossmember mounting bolts (1).

7.Remove the rear crossmember (2).

Installation Procedure





1.Install the rear crossmember (2).

Caution:Refer to Fastener Caution .

2.Install the rear crossmember mounting bolts (1).

TightenTighten all the support bolts to 100 N �m (74 lb ft).





3.Install the rear suspension lower control arm reinforcement (2).

4.Install the rear suspension lower control arm reinforcement bolts (1).

TightenTighten the bolts to 22 N �m (16 lb ft).

5.Install the rear lower control arms. Refer to Lower Control Arm Replacement .

6.Install the rear differential. Refer to the appropriate procedure:

- Differential Replacement for the 5L40-E/5L50-E automatic transmission

- Driveline Support Replacement for the Aisin AR5 manual transmission

7.Lower the vehicle.

8.Inspect for rear wheel alignment and adjust as necessary. Refer to Wheel Alignment Measurement .
