INSTRUMENT PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY

REPLACEMENT




1. TABLE OF BOLT, SCREW AND NUT

HINT: The bolts, screws and nuts necessary for installation and removal of the instrument panel, are illustrated and coded alphabetically.

2. DISCONNECT BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL




3. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH LH
a. Disengage the 2 clips and the 2 claws, and remove the front pillar garnish LH.

4. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH RH




5. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH LOWER PANEL LH
a. Disengage the 2 clips and the claw, and remove the instrument panel finish lower panel LH.

6. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH LOWER PANEL RH




7. REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL
a. Remove the 2 clips.
b. Disengage the 6 claws, and remove the instrument cluster finish panel.




8. REMOVE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY
a. Remove the 3 screws .
b. Disconnect the connectors, and remove the combination meter assembly.




9. REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL GARNISH NO.2
a. Disengage the 2 clips and the 2 claws, and remove the instrument cluster finish panel garnish No.2.

10. REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL GARNISH NO.1




11. REMOVE HEATER CONTROL KNOB
a. Remove the 3 heater control knobs.




12. REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY CTR
a. Remove the 4 screws .
b. Disengage the 4 clips and the claw, and remove the instrument cluster finish panel sub-assembly CTR.
c. Disconnect the connectors.




13. REMOVE RADIO BRACKET NO. 1 & NO. 2 (W/O RADIO)
a. Remove the 4 screws and the radio bracket No.1 & No.2.

14. REMOVE RADIO RECEIVER ASSEMBLY (W/RADIO)




15. REMOVE GLOVE COMPARTMENT DOOR ASSEMBLY
a. Push in the sides of the upper part of the glove compartment door assembly to release the stoppers.
b. Pull the glove compartment door assembly and remove it.

16. DISCONNECT PASSENGER AIRBAG CONNECTOR




17. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY W/PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY
a. Remove the 4 screws , or and the bolt .
b. Disengage the 3 clips and the 9 claws.
c. Disconnect the connectors.
d. Pull the instrument panel sub-assembly w/passenger airbag assembly and remove it.

18. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL PASSENGER AIR BAG ASSEMBLY







19. REMOVE HEATER TO REGISTER DUCT NO.1
a. Using nippers etc., cut off the ultrasonic welding portion as shown in the illustration to remove the heater to register duct No.1 from the instrument panel sub-assembly.

20. REMOVE HEATER TO REGISTER DUCT NO.3







21. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL REGISTER ASSEMBLY NO.1
a. Using nippers etc., cut off the ultrasonic welding portion as shown in the illustration to remove the instrument panel register assembly No.1 from the instrument panel sub-assembly.




22. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL CUSHION NO.1
a. Remove the instrument panel cushion No.1 from the instrument panel sub-assembly.

23. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY
24. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL REGISTER ASSEMBLY NO.1




a. When replacing the instrument panel sub-assembly with a new one, cut the boss off using nippers, etc. as shown in the illustration.

NOTE: When reusing the instrument panel sub-assembly, start from step (b).




b. Using a screw, install the instrument panel register assembly No.1 to the instrument panel sub-assembly.

25. INSTALL HEATER TO REGISTER DUCT NO.1




a. When replacing the instrument panel sub-assembly with a new one, cut the boss off using nippers, etc. as shown in the illustration.

NOTE: When reusing the instrument panel sub-assembly, start from step (b).




b. Using a screw, install the heater to register duct No.1 to the instrument panel sub-assembly.

26. INSTALL HEATER TO REGISTER DUCT NO.3
27. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY W/PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY




a. Using a torque wrench, install the instrument panel sub-assembly w/passenger airbag assembly with bolt
.

Torque: 18 Nm (184 kgf.cm, 13 ft.lbf)

28. INSPECT SRS WARNING LIGHT
Refer to Air Bag Systems; Testing and Inspection.
