INSTRUMENT PANEL ASSY LOWER
REPLACEMENT
1. TABLE OF BOLT, SCREW AND NUT
HINT: The bolts, screws and nuts necessary for installation and removal of the instrument panel, are illustrated and coded alphabetically.
2. DISCONNECT BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL
3. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SUB-ASSY W/PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSY
4. REMOVE HORN BUTTON ASSY
5. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSY
SST 09950-50013 (09951-05010, 09952-05010, 09953-05020, 09954-05021)
6. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN COVER
7. REMOVE HEADLAMP DIMMER SWITCH ASSY
8. REMOVE WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH ASSY
9. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH
a. Disengage the 7 claws, and remove the front door scuff plate LH.
10. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH
11. REMOVE COWL SIDE TRIM BOARD LH
a. Remove the cowl side trim clip.
b. Disengage the clip and remove the cowl side trim board LH.
12. REMOVE COWL SIDE TRIM BOARD RH
13. REMOVE HEATER CONTROL & ACCESSORY ASSY
14. REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL ASSY CENTER
a. Remove the 4 screws
b. Disconnect the connectors.
15. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL BOX
a. Remove the 2 screws
b. Disconnect the connectors.
16. REMOVE INSTRUMENT COVER LOWER CENTER
a. Disengage the 5 claws, and remove the instrument cover lower center.
17. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL LOWER CENTER
a. Using a clip remover, remove the 2 clips.
b. Disengage the 3 claws, and remove the instrument panel finish panel lower center.
18. REMOVE SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSY (M/T TRANSAXLE)
19. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX ASSY REAR
a. Disengage the 4 claws, and remove the console box rear cover.
b. Remove the console box carpet.
c. Remove the screw
d. Disengage the 2 clips, and remove the console box assy rear.
20. REMOVE FUSE BOX OPENING COVER
21. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SUB-ASSY LOWER W/HEATER DUCT
a. Disconnect the hood lock control cable.
b. Using a clip remover, remove the 2 clips.
c. Remove the 2 bolts
d. Remove the 2 screws and the bolt, and separate the instrument panel junction block assy.
e. Remove the instrument panel sub-assy lower w/heater duct.
22. REMOVE HEATER TO REGISTER DUCT NO.2
a. Using nippers etc., cut off the ultrasonic welding portion as shown in the illustration to remove the heater to register duct No.2 from the instrument panel sub-assy.
23. REMOVE GLOVE COMPARTMENT DOOR LOCK MOUNTING BRACKET
a. Remove the screw
24. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL ASSY LOWER
25. INSTALL HEATER TO REGISTER DUCT NO.2
a. When replacing the instrument panel sub-assy lower with a new one, cut the boss off using nippers, etc. as shown in the illustration.
NOTE: when reusing the instrument panel sub-assy lower, start from step (b).
b. Using a screw, install the heater to register duct No.2.
26. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL SUB-ASSY W/PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSY
27. ADJUST SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSY
28. INSTALL STEERING WHEEL ASSY
29. INSTALL HORN BUTTON ASSY
30. INSPECT HORN BUTTON ASSY
31. INSPECT SRS WARNING LIGHT
