Introduction

Some 2004 and 2005 model year ECHO, Scion xA and xB vehicles may exhibit a "M.I.L. ON" condition with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P0325 (Knock Sensor 1 Circuit, Bank 1 or Single Sensor) in the Engine Control Module (ECM) (SAE term: Powertrain Control Module/PCM). The knock control sensor has been improved to reduce this condition.

Warranty Information

Applicable Warranty:

This repair is covered under the Toyota Comprehensive Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 36 months or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle's in-service date.

* Warranty application is limited to correction of a problem based upon a customer's specific complaint.

Repair Procedure

1. Conduct knock sensor circuit checks according to the Technical Information System (TIS): applicable model year ECHO, or Scion xA or xB Repair Manual: Diagnostics: Engine Control System: knock Sensor.

2. If the problem source cannot be located, replace knock sensor according to TIS: applicable model year ECHO, or Scion xA or xB Repair Manual: Diagnostics: Engine Control System: knock Sensor.
