Applicable Warranty*:
This repair is covered under the Toyota Comprehensive Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 36 months or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle's in-service date.
* Warranty application is limited to correction of a problem based upon a customer's specific complaint.
Repair Procedure
1. Place tape around the fog light opening to prevent scratching the paint when removing the light.
2. Remove the fog light by releasing the locking tabs on the adjuster and locator pins. Push the light forward through the fascia and disconnect the harness.
3. Wrap either nonwoven or vinyl (electrical) tape around the boss approximately 5 times. The tape will fill the gap and firm up the light fit into the fascia.
4. To assist with complete engagement of the adjuster pin, confirm the gap as shown in Figure 4.
5. Reconnect the fog light and install through the fascia.
A. Position the boss (Figure 3) to align with the hole in the fascia opening.
B. Confirm that the locator pin (Figure 5) is aligning with the mating hole in the fascia.
C. Firmly press the fog light into the opening.
6. The locking tabs must be visible and engaged. If necessary, use a telescoping mirror to confirm engagement.
7. Test fog lights to confirm function.
8. Aim fog lights.
A. Position vehicle on flat surface at a distance of 25 feet (7.6 m) from the fog light to the wall.
B. Measure the distance from the center of the lamp to the ground and mark off the same height on the wall. This is your fog light centerline.
C. Adjust the fog lights by turning the adjustment screw using a Phillips screwdriver.
HINT:
When looking at the back of the light, the optical aim moves upward when turning the screwdriver clockwise and downward when turning the screwdriver counterclockwise.
D. Turn on the fog lights and adjust them so that the top of the beam (high-intensity portion) falls 4 inches (102 mm) below the top mark on the wall (fog light centerline).
