SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM: AIRBAG SYSTEM: B1905/74:

DTC B1905/74 - Short in Front Passenger Side Pretensioner Squib Circuit

DTC B1906/74 - Open in Front Passenger Side Pretensioner Squib Circuit

DTC B1907/74 - Short to GND in Front Passenger Side Pretensioner Squib Circuit

DTC B1908/74 - Short to B+ in Front Passenger Side Front Pretensioner Squib Circuit

DESCRIPTION
The pretensioner squib (front passenger side) circuit consists of the center airbag sensor and the front seat outer belt RH.
This circuit instructs the SRS to deploy when deployment conditions are met.
These DTCs are recorded when a malfunction is detected in the pretensioner squib (front passenger side) circuit.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
CAUTION: Be sure to perform the following procedures before troubleshooting to avoid unexpected airbag deployment.

1. Disconnect the connectors from the horn button.
2. Disconnect the connectors from the front passenger airbag.
3. Disconnect the connector from the No. 1 instrument panel airbag lower.
4. w/ Side and curtain shield airbag:
Disconnect the connector from the front seat airbag LH.
5. w/ Side and curtain shield airbag:
Disconnect the connector from the front seat airbag RH.
6. w/ Side and curtain shield airbag:
Disconnect the connector from the curtain shield airbag LH.
7. w/ Side and curtain shield airbag:
Disconnect the connector from the curtain shield airbag RH.
8. Disconnect the connector from the front seat outer belt LH.

PROCEDURE

1. CHECK FOR DTC
(a) Proceed to each step according to DTC readings.
(1) If using the intelligent tester (read the 5-digit of DTC):
Using the intelligent tester, check for DTCs DTC Check / Clear.

(2) If not using the intelligent tester (read the 2-digit of DTC):
Check for DTCs DTC Check / Clear.

E -- CHECK CONNECTOR
D -- CHECK NO. 2 FLOOR WIRE (TO B+)
C -- CHECK NO. 2 FLOOR WIRE (TO GROUND)
B -- CHECK NO. 2 FLOOR WIRE (OPEN)
A -- Continue to next step.
2. CHECK CONNECTOR
(a) Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
(b) Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
(c) Check that the No. 2 floor wire connector (on the front seat outer belt RH side) is not damaged.
OK:
The lock button is not disengaged, or the claw of the lock is not deformed or damaged.
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE NO. 2 FLOOR WIRE
OK -- Continue to next step.
3. CHECK NO. 2 FLOOR WIRE (SHORT)





(a) Disconnect the connectors from the center airbag sensor.
(b) Disconnect the connector from the front seat outer belt RH (pretensioner squib (front passenger side)).
(c) Release the activation prevention mechanism built into connector "B" Diagnosis System.
(d) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:






OK -- CHECK CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE NO. 2 FLOOR WIRE
4. CHECK NO. 2 FLOOR WIRE (OPEN)





(a) Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
(b) Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
(c) Disconnect the connectors from the center airbag sensor.
(d) Disconnect the connector from the front seat outer belt RH (pretensioner squib (front passenger side)).
(e) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:






OK -- CHECK CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE NO. 2 FLOOR WIRE
5. CHECK NO. 2 FLOOR WIRE (TO GROUND)





(a) Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
(b) Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
(c) Disconnect the connectors from the center airbag sensor.
(d) Disconnect the connector from the front seat outer belt RH (pretensioner squib (front passenger side)).
(e) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:






OK -- CHECK CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE NO. 2 FLOOR WIRE
6. CHECK NO. 2 FLOOR WIRE (TO B+)





(a) Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
(b) Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
(c) Disconnect the connectors from the center airbag sensor.
(d) Disconnect the connector from the front seat outer belt RH (pretensioner squib (front passenger side)).
(e) Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
(f) Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
(g) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard voltage:





(h) Before proceeding to the next step, perform the following procedures.
(1) Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
(2) Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
OK -- CHECK CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE NO. 2 FLOOR WIRE
7. CHECK CONNECTOR
(a) Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
(b) Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
(c) Check that the No. 2 floor wire connector (on the front seat outer belt RH side) is not damaged.
OK:
The lock button is not disengaged, or the claw of the lock is not deformed or damaged.
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE NO. 2 FLOOR WIRE
OK -- Continue to next step.
8. CHECK NO. 2 FLOOR WIRE (PRETENSIONER SQUIB (FRONT PASSENGER SIDE) CIRCUIT)





(a) Disconnect the connectors from the center airbag sensor.
(b) Disconnect the connector from the front seat outer belt RH (pretensioner squib (front passenger side)).
(c) Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
(d) Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
(e) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard voltage:





(f) Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
(g) Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
(h) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:





(i) Release the activation prevention mechanism built into connector "B" Diagnosis System.
(j) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:






NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE NO. 2 FLOOR WIRE
OK -- Continue to next step.
9. REPLACE FRONT SEAT OUTER BELT ASSEMBLY RH (PRETENSIONER SQUIB (FRONT PASSENGER SIDE))





(a) Replace the front seat outer belt RH and connect the connector.
HINT: Perform the inspection using parts from a normal vehicle if possible.
(b) Connect the connectors to the center airbag sensor.
(c) Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
(d) Turn the ignition switch to the ON position, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
(e) Clear the DTCs stored in memory DTC Check / Clear.
(f) Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
(g) Turn the ignition switch to the ON position, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
(h) Check for DTCs DTC Check / Clear.
OK:
DTC 74 is not output.
HINT: Codes other than code 74 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

NG -- REPLACE CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY
OK -- END
10. CHECK CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY





(a) Restore the released activation prevention mechanism of connector "B" to the original condition.
(b) Connect the connectors to the center airbag sensor.
(c) Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
(d) Turn the ignition switch to the ON position, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
(e) Clear the DTCs stored in memory DTC Check / Clear.
(f) Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
(g) Turn the ignition switch to the ON position, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
(h) Check for DTCs DTC Check / Clear.
OK:
DTC B1905 is not output.
HINT: Codes other than code B1905 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

NG -- REPLACE CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY
11. CHECK CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY





(a) Connect the connectors to the center airbag sensor.
(b) Using a service wire, connect P14-1 (PP+) and P14-2 (PP-) of connector "C".
NOTICE:
- Twist the end of the service wire in order to insert it into the connector.
- Do not forcibly insert the twisted service wire into the terminals of the connector when connecting.
(c) Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
(d) Turn the ignition switch to the ON position, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
(e) Clear the DTCs stored in memory DTC Check / Clear.
(f) Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
(g) Turn the ignition switch to the ON position, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
(h) Check for DTCs DTC Check / Clear.
OK:
DTC B1906, B1907 or B1908 is not output.
HINT: Codes other than code B1906, B1907 or B1908 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.
(i) Before proceeding to the next step, perform the following procedures.
(1) Disconnect the service wire from connector "C".
NG -- REPLACE CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY
OK -- Continue to next step.
12. CHECK FRONT SEAT OUTER BELT ASSEMBLY RH (PRETENSIONER SQUIB (FRONT PASSENGER SIDE))





(a) Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
(b) Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
(c) Connect the connector to the front seat outer belt RH.
(d) Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
(e) Turn the ignition switch to the ON position, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
(f) Clear the DTCs stored in memory DTC Check / Clear.
(g) Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
(h) Turn the ignition switch to the ON position, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
(i) Check for DTCs DTC Check / Clear.
OK:
DTC B1905, B1906, B1907 or B1908 is not output.
HINT: Codes other than code B1905, B1906, B1907 or B1908 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.
