REPLACEMENT
1. REPLACE TIMING CHAIN COVER OIL SEAL
HINT: There are 2 methods to replace the oil seal.
(a) If the timing chain cover is removed from the cylinder block:
(1) Using a screwdriver and hammer, tap out the oil seal.
(2) Apply multi-purpose grease to the lip of a new oil seal.
NOTE: Keep the lip free of foreign objects.
(3) Using SST and a hammer, tap in the new oil seal until its surface is flush with the timing chain cover edge.

NOTE: Wipe any extra grease off the crankshaft.
(b) If the timing chain cover oil seal is installed to the cylinder block:
(1) Remove the front wheel RH.
(2) Remove the front fender apron seal RH Removal.
(3) Remove fan and generator V belt Removal.
(4) Remove the crankshaft pulley Removal.
(5) Using a knife, cut off the lip of the oil seal.
(6) Using a screwdriver with its tip wrapped with tape, pry out the oil seal.
NOTE: After removing, check the crankshaft for damage. If damaged, smooth the surface with 400-grit sandpaper.
(7) Apply multi-purpose grease to the lip of a new oil seal.
NOTE: Keep the lip free of foreign objects.
(8) Using SST and a hammer, tap in the new oil seal until its surface is flush with the timing chain cover edge.

(9) Install the crankshaft pulley Installation.
(10) Install the fan and generator V belt Installation.
(11) Install the front fender apron seal Installation.
(12) Install the front wheel RH Installation.
2. REPLACE ENGINE REAR OIL SEAL
(a) If the engine is installed to the vehicle, perform the following procedures.
(1) Remove the automatic transaxle assembly (for automatic transaxle) Removal.
(2) Remove the drive plate sub-assembly (for automatic transaxle) Removal.
(3) Remove the manual transaxle assembly (for manual transaxle) Components.
(4) Remove the clutch cover assembly (for manual transaxle) Removal.
(5) Remove the clutch disc assembly (for manual transaxle).
(b) Using a knife, cut off the lip of the oil seal.
(c) Using a screwdriver with its tip wrapped with tape, pry out the oil seal.
NOTE: After removing, check the crankshaft for damage. If damaged, smooth the surface with 400-grit sandpaper.
(d) Apply multi-purpose grease to the lip of a new oil seal.
CAUTION: Keep the lip free of foreign objects.
(e) Using SST and a hammer, tap in the new oil seal until its surface is flush with the rear oil seal retainer edge.

(f) If the engine is installed to the vehicle, perform the following procedures.
(1) Install the drive plate sub-assembly (for automatic transaxle) Installation
(2) Install the automatic transaxle assembly (for automatic transaxle) Installation.
(3) Install the clutch disc assembly (for manual transaxle) Installation.
(4) Install the clutch cover assembly (for manual transaxle) Installation.
(5) Install the manual transaxle assembly (for manual transaxle) Installation.
