DESCRIPTION

The combination meter receives vehicle speed signals from the skid control ECU via the CAN communication line. The wheel speed sensors output voltages that vary according to the vehicle speed. The skid control ECU supplies power to the wheel speed sensors. The skid control ECU calculates the vehicle speed based on the pulses of the voltage.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

NOTICE:
If the vehicle speed is outside the allowable range when tested, perform the on-vehicle inspection Operation Check.

Before starting the following inspection, check the tire size and tire pressure.

PROCEDURE

1. CHECK CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

(a) Check if a CAN communication DTC is output Diagnosis System.

2. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (SPEED METER OPERATION)

(a) Use the Active Test to check the operation of the speedometer Meter / Gauge System.

Speedometer indication is normal.

NG -- REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY Removal
OK -- Continue to next step.

3. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (VEHICLE SPEED METER)

(a) Use the Data List to check if the speedometer is operating properly Meter / Gauge System.

OK:

Vehicle speed displayed on the Techstream is almost the same as the actual vehicle speed.

NG -- READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (FR/FL/RR/RL WHEEL SPEED)

OK -- REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY Removal

4. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (FR/FL/RR/RL WHEEL SPEED)

(a) Use the Data List to check the wheel speed Meter / Gauge System.

ABS/VSC/TRAC





OK:

Vehicle speed displayed on the Techstream is almost the same as the actual vehicle speed.

NG -- GO TO VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEM How to Proceed With Troubleshooting
OK -- Continue to next step.

5. REPLACE SKID CONTROL ECU

(a) Replace the skid control ECU with a new or normally functioning one Removal.

OK:

The operation of the speedometer returns to normal.

NG -- REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY Removal

OK -- END (SKID CONTROL ECU IS DEFECTIVE)
