2AR-FE FUEL: FUEL PUMP: INSTALLATION

1. INSTALL FUEL SUCTION TUBE ASSEMBLY WITH PUMP AND GAUGE

(a) Install a new gasket to the fuel tank.

(b) Install the fuel suction tube assembly with pump and gauge to the fuel tank.

NOTICE:
Be careful not to bend the arm of the fuel sender gauge.

(c) Align the protrusions of the fuel suction tube assembly with pump and gauge with the groove of the fuel tank.

NOTICE:
Make sure that the fuel suction tube gasket is in the correct position.

2. INSTALL FUEL PUMP GAUGE RETAINER

(a) Put a new retainer on the fuel tank. While holding the fuel suction tube assembly with pump and gauge, tighten the retainer one complete turn by hand.

HINT
Make sure the start marks on the retainer and fuel tank are aligned, and then tighten the retainer.

(b) Using a 6 mm socket hexagon wrench, install SST to the fuel pump gauge retainer.

HINT
* Hold the fuel suction tube assembly upright by hand to ensure that the fuel suction tube gasket is not moved out of position.
* Securely attach the claws of SST to the protrusions of the fuel pump gauge retainer and fix SST in place.
* Install SST while pressing the claws of SST against the fuel pump gauge retainer (toward the center of SST).

(c) Using SST, tighten the retainer until the mark on the retainer is within range A on the fuel tank as shown in the illustration.

3. CONNECT FUEL TANK MAIN TUBE SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Install the fuel tank main tube with the fuel joint clip.

NOTICE:
* Check that there are no scratches or foreign objects on the connecting parts.
* Check that the fuel tube joint is inserted securely.
* Check that the fuel tube joint clip is on the collar of the fuel tube joint.
* After installing the fuel tube joint clip, check that the fuel tube joint cannot be pulled off.

(b) Connect the fuel pump connector.

4. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

NOTICE:
When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Repair Instruction - Initialization.

5. INSPECT FOR FUEL LEAK Installation

6. INSTALL REAR FLOOR SERVICE HOLE COVER

(a) Install the rear floor service hole cover with new butyl tape.

7. INSTALL BENCH TYPE REAR SEAT CUSHION ASSEMBLY
