DESCRIPTION

* The combination meter detects the state of the front seat inner belt RH when the front passenger seat is occupied with the ignition switch to ON, the center airbag sensor transmits front seat inner belt RH state signals to the main body ECU, and then the main body ECU sends signals to the combination meter through the CAN. If the front passenger seat belt is not fastened, the combination meter blinks the front passenger side seat belt warning light. If the seat belt is fastened, the warning light goes off.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

NOTICE:
The seat belt warning system uses the CAN communication system. First, confirm that there is no malfunction in the CAN communication system. Refer to the How to Proceed with Troubleshooting procedure Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview.

PROCEDURE

1. CHECK FOR DTC

(a) for Airbag System:

(1) Clear the DTCs Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.

(2) Check for DTCs Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.

(b) for Occupant Classification System:

(1) Clear the DTCs Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.

(2) Check for DTCs Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.

C -- GO TO OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM Occupant Classification System

B -- GO TO AIRBAG SYSTEM Airbag System
A -- Continue to next step.

2. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (FRONT PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELT WARNING LIGHT)

(a) Operate the Techstream according to the display and select Active Test Scan Tool Testing and Procedures.

Combination Meter





OK:

Front passenger side seat belt warning light condition can be switched by Active Test.

NG -- REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY Removal
OK -- Continue to next step.

3. REPLACE CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR

(a) Temporarily replace the center airbag sensor with a new one Removal.

NEXT -- Continue to next step.

4. CHECK FRONT PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELT WARNING LIGHT

(a) Check the front passenger side seat belt warning light function.

OK:

Front passenger side seat belt warning light operates normally.

NG -- REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY Removal

OK -- END (CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR IS DEFECTIVE)
