Applicability

Introduction

Some 2011 - 2012 model year Scion tC vehicles may exhibit excessive wind noise with the moon roof in the "Full Open" position. This condition typically starts at 45 mph and increases with speed. New Sliding Roof Guide Rail Sub-Assemblies have been developed to improve this condition.

Repair Procedure





1. Confirm vehicle has excessive wind noise while driving at 45 mph with the moon roof in the "Full Open" position. If excessive wind noise is present, lower the fabric wind deflector ~20 mm (0.75 in.).

^ If wind noise decreases, proceed to step 2.

^ If wind noise does NOT decrease, this bulletin does not apply.

2. Open the moon roof fully and remove the headliner.

Refer to the Technical Information System (TIS), applicable model and model year Repair Manual:

3. Remove the roof wind deflector panel sub-assembly by unlatching the 2 springs.





4. Pull the deflector arm towards the outside and remove it from the holder.





5. Slide the roof wind deflector panel along the grooves of the sliding roof guide rail sub-assemblies as shown in Figure 4 and remove.





6. Remove the screw holding the sliding roof guide rail sub-assembly on each side.





7. Remove both sliding roof guide rail sub-assemblies.

8. Install the NEW sliding roof guide rail sub-assemblies using the supplied hardware.

9. Reinstall the deflector in the reverse order of removal.

NOTICE

Take care not to damage the wind deflector panel.

10. Install the headliner.

11. Confirm repair.
