U760E AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION / TRANSAXLE: AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE ASSEMBLY: REMOVAL

NOTICE:
If automatic transaxle parts are replaced, refer to Parts Replacement Compensation Table to determine if any additional operations are necessary Service Precautions.

1. REMOVE DRIVE PLATE AND TORQUE CONVERTER SETTING BOLT

(a) Remove the flywheel housing under cover.





(b) Using SST, hold the crankshaft pulley.

(c) Remove the 6 drive plate and torque converter setting bolts.





2. REMOVE ENGINE ASSEMBLY WITH TRANSAXLE

3. SUPPORT AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE ASSEMBLY

(a) Support the automatic transmission with a transmission jack so that it is stable.

4. REMOVE STARTER ASSEMBLY Removal

5. REMOVE TRANSMISSION WIRE





(a) Detach the clamp and disconnect the transmission wire.

(b) Remove the bolt and transmission wire.

6. DISCONNECT ENGINE WIRE

(a) Detach the clamp and disconnect the engine wire.





(b) Disconnect the park/neutral position switch connector.

(c) Detach the clamp and disconnect the engine wire.





(d) Remove the bolt and disconnect the engine wire.

(e) Detach the 2 clamps and disconnect the engine wire.





(f) Detach the claw, turn the lock lever and disconnect the connector from the TCM.

7. REMOVE WIRE HARNESS CLAMP BRACKET

(a) Remove the 2 bolts and 2 clamp brackets from the automatic transaxle assembly.





8. REMOVE OIL COOLER TUBE SUB-ASSEMBLY





(a) Disconnect the No. 1 oil cooler inlet hose and No. 1 oil cooler outlet hose from the automatic transaxle assembly.

(b) Remove the bolt and No. 1 oil cooler tube.

9. REMOVE FLEXIBLE HOSE BRACKET SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Detach the clamp and disconnect the breather plug hose from the flexible hose bracket.





(b) Remove the bolt and flexible hose bracket from the automatic transaxle assembly.





10. REMOVE FRONT ENGINE MOUNTING BRACKET

(a) Remove the 3 bolts and front engine mounting bracket from the automatic transaxle assembly.





11. REMOVE REAR ENGINE MOUNTING BRACKET

(a) Remove the 3 bolts and rear engine mounting bracket from the automatic transaxle assembly.





12. REMOVE ENGINE MOUNTING BRACKET LH

(a) Remove the 4 bolts and engine mounting bracket LH from the automatic transaxle assembly.





13. REMOVE TCM

(a) Remove the 2 bolts and TCM from the automatic transaxle assembly.





14. REMOVE NO. 1 TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE BRACKET

(a) Remove the 2 bolts and No. 1 transmission control cable bracket from the automatic transaxle assembly.





15. REMOVE PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY Removal

16. REMOVE TRANSMISSION CASE PLUG ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the transmission case plug from the automatic transaxle assembly.





17. REMOVE AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the 9 bolts, and then remove the automatic transaxle assembly from the engine assembly.





NOTICE:
To prevent damage to the knock pins, do not pry between the transaxle and engine.

18. FIX ENGINE ASSEMBLY Removal

19. REMOVE TORQUE CONVERTER ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the torque converter from the automatic transaxle assembly.
