Oil Pump





U760E AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION / TRANSAXLE: OIL PUMP: INSPECTION

1. INSPECT OIL PUMP ASSEMBLY

(a) Turn the drive gear with 2 screwdrivers and make sure that it rotates smoothly.





NOTICE:
Be careful not to damage the oil seal lip.

2. INSPECT CLEARANCE OF FRONT OIL PUMP AND GEAR BODY SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Inspect the body clearance.

(1) Push the driven gear to one side of the body.





(2) Using a feeler gauge, measure the body clearance.

Standard clearance:

0.075 to 0.145 mm (0.00296 to 0.00570 in.)

Maximum clearance:

0.145 mm (0.00570 in.)

If the clearance is more than the maximum, replace the drive gear, driven gear or front oil pump and gear body.

(b) Inspect the side clearance.

(1) Using a straightedge and feeler gauge, measure the side clearance of both gears.





Standard side clearance:

0.025 to 0.040 mm (0.000985 to 0.00157 in.)

Maximum side clearance:

0.04 mm (0.00157 in.)

If the clearance is more than the maximum, replace the drive gear, driven gear or front oil pump and gear body.

There are 5 different thicknesses for the drive and driven gears.

3. INSPECT FRONT OIL PUMP BODY SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Using a caliper gauge, measure the inside diameter of the front oil pump body bushing.





Standard inside diameter:

43.113 to 43.138 mm (1.6974 to 1.6983 in.)

Maximum inside diameter:

43.188 mm (1.7003 in.)

If the inside diameter is more than the maximum, replace the front oil pump and gear body.

4. INSPECT STATOR SHAFT ASSEMBLY

(a) Using a caliper gauge, measure the inside diameter of the stator shaft bushing.





Standard inside diameter:

22.500 to 22.526 mm (0.88583 to 0.88684 in.)

Maximum inside diameter:

22.576 mm (0.88881 in.)

If the inside diameter is more than the maximum, replace the stator shaft assembly.
