SLIDING ROOF: SLIDING ROOF SYSTEM: INITIALIZATION
1. INITIALIZATION PROCEDURE
NOTICE:
* When replacing the sliding roof drive gear, the new sliding roof drive gear requires initialization. If a reset is not executed, the following functions do not operate: AUTO operation, the jam protection function and key-off operation.
* During initialization, do not apply a physical shock, such as opening/closing a door or driving the vehicle at 5 km/h (3.10 mph) or more, to the vehicle and do not perform the following electrical operations:
(1) Cranking the engine
(2) Turning the ignition switch from ON to off
(3) Operating the power window switches
(4) Operating the window defogger switch
(5) Operating the blower switch
(6) Locking/Unlocking the door
(7) Operating the headlight dimmer switch
HINT
When the cable is disconnected and reconnected to the negative (-) battery terminal or the drive gear connector is disconnected and reconnected, the sliding roof drive gear (pulse sensor initial position setting) initialization is not necessary.
(a) Initialization
(1) Turn the ignition switch to ON.
(2) Make sure that the sliding roof is fully closed.
(3) Push and hold the TILT UP switch until the following movement finishes: tilt up -> approximately 1 second pause-> tilt down -> slide open -> approximately 1 second pause -> slide closed.
NOTICE:
Make sure not to release the switch during the initialization. If the switch is released, perform the initialization again.
(4) Check that the sliding roof stops at the fully closed position.
(5) The initialization is complete.
(b) Close Completion Operation (When the slide roof is in the slide open position)
(1) Turn the ignition switch to ON.
(2) Hold the slide roof switch in the TILT UP direction to fully close the roof.
(3) Hold the switch in the TILT UP direction, and after the fully open tilt position is reached, release the switch once.
(4) Press and hold the slide roof switch in the TILT UP direction to move the slide roof to the tilt up position, and continue holding the switch.
NOTICE:
During the slide roof operation, keep the TILT UP switch pressed continuously. If the switch is released, perform the close completion operation again.
(5) Approximately 10 seconds after reaching the tilt up position, the roof glass will move as follows: tilt down-> slide open-> slide closed.
(6) The slide roof stops in the fully closed position, and the close completion operation is complete.
(c) Close Completion Operation (When the slide roof is in the tilt up position)
(1) Turn the ignition switch to ON.
(2) Press and hold the switch in the TILT UP direction, and after the fully open tilt position is reached, release the switch once.
(3) Press and hold the slide roof switch in the TILT UP direction.
NOTICE:
During the slide roof operation, keep the TILT UP switch pressed continuously. If the switch is released, perform the close completion operation again.
(4) After approximately 10 seconds, the roof glass will move as follows: tilt down-> slide open-> slide closed.
(5) The slide roof stops in the fully closed position, and the close completion operation is complete.
(d) Check that the AUTO operation works normally.
HINT
* If the sliding roof cannot be fully closed or its position has become misaligned, perform initialization again.
* When the jam protection function does not operate, it is necessary to perform a reset procedure on the motor. In cases where the jam protection feature activates repeatedly, perform the initialization procedure.
* If initialization fails or the roof position is misaligned, the initialization cancel procedure must be performed.
2. INITIALIZATION CANCEL PROCEDURE
HINT
If initialization fails or the roof position is misaligned, the initialization cancel procedure must be performed.
(a) Move the roof to the tilt up fully open position.
(b) Press and hold the slide roof switch in the TILT UP direction for more than 10 seconds, and then release the switch during slide roof operation (tilt down-> slide open-> slide closed)
(c) The initialization cancel is complete.
