Lighting and Horns: Description and Operation
LIGHTING: LIGHTING SYSTEM: SYSTEM DIAGRAM
SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
1. Illumination control system (Illuminated entry system):
* The illuminated entry system provides convenience when getting in or out of the vehicle at night. This system controls the No. 1 room light illumination.
* This function is controlled by the main body ECU. The operation and condition of this control are described below.
2. Exterior light control system (w/ Daytime Running Light Control):
* Light Control
* High Beam Control
* Passing Light Control
* Daytime Running Light Control
* High Beam Headlight Indicator Light Control
(a) Light Control
* Light control illuminates the low beam headlights and taillights (parking lights, taillights and license plate lights) by operation of the light control switch.
* When the light control switch is turned to the TAIL position, the running light relay assembly turns the taillights on. When the light control switch is turned to the HEAD position, the running light relay assembly turns the low beam headlights and taillights on.
(b) High Beam Control
* High beam control illuminates farther ahead than normal.
* When both of the following conditions are met, the high beam headlights come on:
* Low beam headlights are turned on by the light control.
* Dimmer switch is in HIGH position.
(c) Passing Light Control
* Passing light control illuminates the high beam headlights in order to allow an oncoming vehicle to become aware of the vehicle's presence while driving with poor visibility.
* When the dimmer switch is turned to the HIGH FLASH position, the high beam headlights come on.
(d) Daytime Running Light Control
* The daytime running light control is designed to automatically turn on the high beam headlights during the day to make the vehicle more visible to other drivers and pedestrians. Daytime running light control is operated by the running light relay assembly.
HINT
The running light relay assembly dims the high beam headlights when operating them as daytime running lights.
* The daytime running light control will begin operating when all of the following conditions are met:
* Ignition switch is ON.
* Engine is running.
* Parking brake switch is off.
* Light control switch is in OFF or TAIL.
* The daytime running light control will be cancelled if the light control switch is switched to the HEAD position during daytime running light control operation.
(e) High beam headlight indicator light control
* The high beam headlight indicator light is controlled by the running light relay assembly.
* The running light relay assembly will send a signal to the combination meter to illuminate the indicator when both of the following conditions are met:
* Ignition switch is ON.
* High beam headlights are on.
HINT
When the daytime running lights are operating, the high beam headlight indicator does not illuminate.
* When either of the following conditions is met, the high beam headlight indicator turns off:
* Ignition switch is off.
* High beam headlights are off.
