Installation
2AZ-FE EMISSION CONTROL: EXHAUST MANIFOLD CONVERTER: INSTALLATION
1. INSTALL EXHAUST MANIFOLD CONVERTER SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) Install the No. 2 exhaust manifold heat insulator with the 2 bolts.
Torque : 12 Nm (122 kgf-cm, 9 ft-lbf)
(b) Install the No. 1 manifold converter insulator with the 4 bolts.
Torque : 12 Nm (122 kgf-cm, 9 ft-lbf)
(c) Install a new exhaust manifold to head gasket.
(d) Install the exhaust manifold converter subassembly, tighten the 5 nuts in the order shown in the illustration.
Torque : 37 Nm (377 kgf-cm, 27 ft-lbf)
(e) Install the manifold stay with the bolt and nut.
Torque : 44 Nm (449 kgf-cm, 33 ft-lbf)
(f) Install the No. 2 manifold stay with the bolt and nut.
Torque : 44 Nm (449 kgf-cm, 33 ft-lbf)
2. INSTALL FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY
(a) Using a vernier caliper, measure the free length of the compression spring.
Minimum length:
41.5 mm (1.634 in.)
If the length is not as specified, replace the compression spring.
(b) Using a plastic hammer and a wooden block, tap in a new exhaust pipe gasket until its surface is flush with the exhaust manifold converter sub-assembly.
NOTICE:
* Install the exhaust pipe gasket in the correct direction.
* Do not damage the outer surface of the exhaust pipe gasket.
* Do not reuse the exhaust pipe gasket.
* Do not push in the gasket with the exhaust pipe when connecting it.
(c) Install a new exhaust pipe gasket onto the front exhaust pipe assembly.
(d) Install the front exhaust pipe assembly with the 4 bolts and 2 compression springs.
Torque : 43 Nm (438 kgf-cm, 32 ft-lbf)
(e) Install the front exhaust pipe assembly with the 4 bolts and 2 compression springs.
Torque : 43 Nm (438 kgf-cm, 32 ft-lbf)
3. INSTALL AIR FUEL RATIO SENSOR Installation
4. INSTALL NO. 1 EXHAUST MANIFOLD HEAT INSULATOR Installation
5. INSPECT FOR EXHAUST GAS LEAK
6. INSTALL NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER
