DESCRIPTION

When the light control switch, located on the headlight dimmer switch, is turned to the TAIL position, the front clearance lights, front side marker lights, rear taillights and license plate light come on.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE

1. CHECK WHETHER LIGHTS ILLUMINATE

(a) Check whether the following lights come on: Front clearance lights, front side marker lights, rear taillights and license plate light.

Result:





E -- REPLACE BULB (LICENSE PLATE LIGHT BULB)

D -- REPLACE BULB (TAILLIGHT BULB)

C -- REPLACE BULB (FRONT SIDE MARKER LIGHT)

B -- REPLACE BULB (FRONT CLEARANCE LIGHT BULB)
A -- Continue to next step.

2. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (TAILLIGHT RELAY)

(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

(b) Turn the ignition switch to ON.

(c) Turn the tester on.

(d) Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Main Body / Active Test / Taillight Relay.

(e) Check the taillights while operating the taillight relay using the tester.

Main Body (Main Body ECU)





OK:

The taillights come on when operated through the Techstream.

NG -- INSPECT FUSE (TAIL)
OK -- Continue to next step.

3. INSPECT HEADLIGHT DIMMER SWITCH (LIGHT CONTROL SWITCH)

(a) Remove the headlight dimmer switch assembly Removal.





(b) Inspect the light control switch.

(1) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard resistance:





(c) Reinstall the headlight dimmer switch.

NG -- REPLACE HEADLIGHT DIMMER SWITCH Removal
OK -- Continue to next step.

4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HEADLIGHT DIMMER SWITCH - MAIN BODY ECU, BODY GROUND)





(a) Disconnect the F6 headlight dimmer switch connector.

(b) Disconnect the 4S main body ECU connector.

(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard resistance:





(d) Reconnect the main body ECU connector.

(e) Reconnect the headlight dimmer switch connector.

NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

OK -- REPLACE MAIN BODY ECU

5. INSPECT FUSE (TAIL)

(a) Remove the TAIL fuse from the main body ECU.





(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard resistance:





(c) Reinstall the TAIL fuse.

NG -- REPLACE FUSE Locations
OK -- Continue to next step.

6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BATTERY - MAIN BODY ECU)

(a) Disconnect the 4G main body ECU connector.





(b) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard voltage:





(c) Reconnect the main body ECU connector.

NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

OK -- REPLACE MAIN BODY ECU

7. REPLACE BULB (FRONT CLEARANCE LIGHT BULB)

(a) Temporarily replace the front clearance light bulb with a new or normally functioning one Disassembly.

NEXT -- Continue to next step.

8. CHECK FRONT CLEARANCE LIGHT BULB

(a) Check that the front clearance light comes on.

OK:

Front clearance light comes on.

NG -- INSPECT HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY (SYSTEM VOLTAGE)

OK -- END (REPLACE BULB) Disassembly

9. INSPECT HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY (SYSTEM VOLTAGE)

(a) Disconnect the B1 and B7 headlight assembly connectors.





(b) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard voltage:





(c) Reconnect the headlight assembly connectors.

NG -- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY - MAIN BODY ECU)
OK -- Continue to next step.

10. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY - BODY GROUND)

(a) Disconnect the B1 and B7 headlight assembly connectors.





(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard resistance:





(c) Reconnect the headlight assembly connectors.

OK -- REPAIR OR REPLACE NO. 2 LIGHT WIRE Disassembly

11. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY - MAIN BODY ECU)

(a) Disconnect the B1 and B7 headlight assembly connectors.





(b) Disconnect the 4B main body ECU connector.

(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard resistance:





(d) Reconnect the headlight assembly connectors.

(e) Reconnect the main body ECU connector.

NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

OK -- REPLACE MAIN BODY ECU

12. REPLACE BULB (FRONT SIDE MARKER LIGHT)

(a) Temporarily replace the front side marker light bulb with a new or normally functioning one Disassembly.

13. CHECK FRONT SIDE MARKER LIGHT BULB

(a) Check that the front side marker light comes on.

OK:

Front side marker light comes on.

14. INSPECT HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY (SYSTEM VOLTAGE)

(a) Disconnect the B1 and B7 headlight assembly connectors.





(b) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

(c) Reconnect the headlight assembly connectors.

(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

(d) Reconnect the headlight assembly connectors.

(e) Reconnect the main body ECU connector.

17. REPLACE BULB (TAILLIGHT BULB)

(a) Temporarily replace the taillight bulb with a new or normally functioning one Disassembly.

18. CHECK TAILLIGHT BULB

(a) Check that the taillight comes on.

OK:

Taillight comes on.

NG -- INSPECT REAR COMBINATION LIGHT ASSEMBLY (SYSTEM VOLTAGE)

19. INSPECT REAR COMBINATION LIGHT ASSEMBLY (SYSTEM VOLTAGE)

(a) Disconnect the L5 and L6 rear combination light assembly connectors.





(b) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard voltage:





(c) Reconnect the rear combination light connectors.

NG -- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (REAR COMBINATION LIGHT - MAIN BODY ECU)
OK -- Continue to next step.

20. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (REAR COMBINATION LIGHT ASSEMBLY - BODY GROUND)

(a) Disconnect the L5 and L6 rear combination light assembly connectors.





(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard resistance:





(c) Reconnect the rear combination light connectors.

NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

OK -- REPLACE REAR COMBINATION LIGHT ASSEMBLY Removal

21. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (REAR COMBINATION LIGHT - MAIN BODY ECU)

(a) Disconnect the L5 and L6 rear combination light assembly connectors.





(b) Disconnect the 4A main body ECU connector.

(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard resistance:





(d) Reconnect the rear combination light assembly connectors.

(e) Reconnect the main body ECU connector.

NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

OK -- REPLACE MAIN BODY ECU

22. REPLACE BULB (LICENSE PLATE LIGHT BULB)

(a) Temporarily replace the license plate light bulb with a new or normally functioning one Removal.

23. CHECK LICENSE PLATE LIGHT BULB

(a) Check that the license plate light comes on.

OK:

License plate light comes on.

NG -- INSPECT LICENSE PLATE LIGHT ASSEMBLY (SYSTEM VOLTAGE)

OK -- END (REPLACE BULB) Removal

24. INSPECT LICENSE PLATE LIGHT ASSEMBLY (SYSTEM VOLTAGE)

(a) Disconnect the O6 and O7 license plate light assembly connectors.





(b) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard voltage:





(c) Reconnect the license plate light connectors.

25. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (LICENSE PLATE LIGHT - BODY GROUND)

(a) Disconnect the O6 and O7 license plate light assembly connectors.





(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

(c) Reconnect the license plate light connectors.

26. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (LICENSE PLATE LIGHT - MAIN BODY ECU, BODY GROUND)





(a) Disconnect the O6 and O7 license plate light assembly connectors.

(b) Disconnect the 4A main body ECU connector.

(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard resistance:





(d) Reconnect the license plate light assembly connector.

(e) Reconnect the main body ECU connector.
