The following A/C Kits are available for the 1985 4 Door and Station Wagon.

Non-Power Steering SOA 332 A100 SOA 329 A100
Please be aware that some early printings of the Hitachi and Lone Star Air Conditioning Kits installation instructions may contain some errors. These are noted below:
1. General
The idle speed adjustment charts shown in the Hitachi and Lone Star air conditioning installation kit instructions for the 1985 4 Door Sedan and Station Wagon are incorrect. The proper idle speed for both Manual and Automatic Transmission equipped vehicles (in neutral or park) with the compressor on and the engine warm is 850 RPM plus or minus 50 RPM.
- 1985 (BRAT and Hatchback) idle speed specifications are accurate.
II. 1985 HITACHI AIR CONDITIONING KITS-4 DOOR SEDAN AND STATION WAGON (SOA 332 A100 and SOA 332 A101).
- The belt tension diagrams shown for power steering equipped vehicles (SOA 332 A101) and non-power steering equipped vehicles (SOA 332 A100) are incorrect. The corrections are shown below.
III. 1985 LONE STAR AIR CONDITIONING KITS-4 DOOR SEDAN AND STATION WAGON (SOA329 A100 and SOA 329 A101).
- In the illustration for compressor mount and drive assembly installation (letter D, Engine Compartment Installation Details) the compressor adjusting arm is shown in front of the compressor mounting ear. This is incorrect. The compressor mounting arm must mount behind the compressing mounting ear.
- When re-installing the alternator, care should be taken to correctly route the alternator wires away from the brackets and adjusting arms to ensure that the wires won't become severed. The wires need not be removed to accomplish this.
- The Lone Star evaporator can also be installed by using the following procedure which differs from the installation instructions.
- When installing the evaporator, first loosely install the heater inlet sealing clamp on the evaporator flange. Now follow evaporator and alignment installation procedures as outlined in the instructions. The blower outlet clamp can be installed last with the evaporator in place completing the installation.
- The discharge service valve size has been changed from the existing 1/4" to 3/16". An adapter may be used to adapt present equipment.
IV. Installation reminders pertaining to both 1985 new model Lone Star and Hitachi kit air conditioning systems are as follows:
- The engine must be running in order to check the microswitch for proper operation due to vacuum operating controls. The micro switch lever may be bent to adjust if necessary, but extreme care must be taken to avoid damage to this sensitive item.
- The switch should be checked to assure compressor operation in air conditioning and defrost mode.
Proper installation procedures will also include:
1. Use of back-up wrenches on ALL fittings.
2. Lubrication of O-rings, fittings and threads.
3. Evacuating the system (30 Min.).
4. Charging the system with the proper amount of R-12.
5. Use the bolt length ruler in the installation instructions to avoid errors.
6. Use of air tools for removal or re-installation of interior trim pieces or evaporator and mounting brackets will damage the plastic retaining screws. Screws that are damaged due to the use of air tools are not a matter for warranty consideration.
