85SUBARU01 NUMBER 02-40-85
APPLICABILITY: ALL O.H.C. ENGINES DATE: 02-14-85

SUBJECT: O.H.C. HYDRAULIC LASH ADJUSTER INTERCHANGEABILITY

Please be advised, that all OHC hydraulic lash adjusters, regardless of part number, are interchangeable and can be used in the same engine.

FIGURE 1 - Lash Adjuster:

All part numbers for 1985 OHC hydraulic lash adjusters have been superseded to part number 132 29AA 000. This superceded part is fitted with a shipping pin to prevent oil seepage during shipment (See Figure 1). This pin must be removed before installing the lash adjuster into the vehicle. If the pin has already been removed, oil seepage from the lash adjuster will occur. In this case, reprime the lash adjuster with the proper engine oil following the procedure listed in Volume 1, Section 2-3, Page 34 of the 1985 Service Manual.

The lash adjuster should be stored upright to prevent oil seepage.
NOTE: PART NUMBER 132 30AA 002 IS A PRINTING ERROR IN THE 1985 PARTS CATALOG. THIS PART NUMBER SHOULD READ 132 30AA 011.
