A/T - Slips, Delayed Engagement/Slow Fill of Converter

TSB 88-41 (Sept.)

SUBJECT: SUBARU

PROBLEM: Slow fill of torque converter

CAUSE: May be pump drive shaft in backwards

May have delayed engagement when cold, or slips when accelerating.

The pump drive shaft has two holes on one end. These holes must be inside the torque converter to help it fill with fluid. If the pump drive shaft is installed backwards a slow fill of the torque converter will result.

CURE: (See Figure for correct installation)
