SUBJECT: CARTER CARBURETOR CHANGE - INFORMATION ONLY
FIGURE 1:
The Carter model number for the Subaru Carter Carburetor has been changed from TYF 7419 SA to TYF 7569 SA beginning with engine number 145 986, November 5, 1982 production.. This number is on a metal tag attached to one of the upper chamber bolts. See Figure 1.
FIGURE 2:
THIS NEW CARBURETOR IS INTERCHANGEABLE WITH THE 1982 CARTER CARBURETOR
AND CARRIES THE SAME SUBARU PART NUMBER.
The change involves a reduction in the size of the restriction in the slow air passage of the duty solenoid. This modification assists in the uniformity of the air/fuel mixture during low speed operation. See figure 2.
