High-Altitude Kit "C"
INSTALLATION PROCEDURES FOR INDIVIDUAL KITS
3. HIGH ALTITUDE KIT C
3-1) Component parts
3-2) Installation procedure
NOTE: Numbers enclosed with a circle in the following explanation denote the parts shown in Figure 12.
1) Hose installation
a) Remove the rubber caps from the nipple ("A" in Figure 13.) located on the front side of the carburetor and the nipple ("C" in Figure 13.) located on the reverse side of the carburetor.
b) Remove the rubber caps from the nipples ("B" and "D" in Figure 13.) located on the rear side of the air cleaner.
c) Connect the nipple "A" on the front side of the carburetor and the nipple "B" on the rear side of the air cleaner with the hose assembly. (Figure 13.)
d) Connect the nipple "C" on the rear side of the carburetor and the nipple "D" on the rear side of the air cleaner with the hose assembly (2). (Figure 13.)
2) Replacement and Addition of EGR Leak Orifice
a) 4WD vehicles with manual transmission
Remove the hose shown (hatched) in Figure 14, put the grooveless orifice, contained in the orifice set (4), into the hose (4 x 9 x 25 x 25) (3), and install the hose to the same position as the removed hose.
b) 4WD vehicles with automatic transmission
Remove the two rubber caps, insert the orifice with a groove around it, contained in the orifice set (4), into the hose (4 x 9 x 25 x 25) (3), and install the hose to the same position as the rubber caps.
3) Checking and adjusting engine idling speed
Check to see that the engine idling speed is within the range shown in the following table and adjust if necessary.
4WD vehicles with manual 700 +/- 100 rpm
transmission:
4WD vehicles with automatic 800 +/- 100 rpm
transmission:
(at neutral (N) or P position)
4) Affixing high-altitude label
a) On vehicles equipped with this high altitude kit, affix the high-altitude label to the reverse side of the engine hood, at the position shown in Figure 15.
3-3) High-altitude to low-altitude modification procedure
Return the vehicle, modified to high-altitude specification by use of kit C, into low-altitude specifications, proceed as follows:
1) Disconnect the hose from the position "A" on the front side of the carburetor and the position "C" on the rear side of the carburetor and cap the openings. (See Figure 13.)
2) Disconnect the hose from the positions "B" and "D" on the rear side of the air cleaner and cap the openings. (See Figure 13.)
3) Replace the EGR leak orifice with low-altitude specifications shown below. (See Figure 14.)
Vehicle type Orifice diameter
4WD vehicles with manual transmission 0.5 mm
4WD vehicles with automatic transmission (Rubber cap)
4) Check to see that the engine idling speed is within the specified range and adjust if necessary.
4WD vehicles with manual transmission: 700 rpm
4WD vehicles with automatic transmission: 800 rpm
(at neutral (N)or P position)
5) Remove the high-altitude label from the reverse side of the engine hood. (See Figure 15.)
