Fuel Filler Cap: Testing and Inspection

Fuel Tank Vacuum Relief Valve:

1. Remove cap, and check gasket for even filler neck imprint, and deterioration or any damage. If the gasket has deteriorated or split, replace cap.
2. Wipe valve housing clean.
3. Draw air through the tank side of the cap.
The valve should click, allowing air to pass through it.
Replace fuel cap if it fails above tests.

Fuel Filler Cap:

NOTE: If cap requires replacement, only a cap with the same features should be used. Failure to use correct cap can result in critical malfunction of system.
