The correct operation of the trunk lid torsion spring on Sedan and XT is to bring the trunk lid up approximately 2-4 inches after using the trunk release. The trunk lid then can be moved to the desired height and will maintain this until moved again.
The fulcrum extensions included with the Sedan and XT deck rack kits are used to assist the torsion springs with the additional weight of the rack. Fulcrum extensions installed on a vehicle which is not equipped with a deck rack are not covered under warranty. If the deck lid will not hold the set position, the torsion springs should be replaced.
